“Grief recalls the loss of a student (I had working as a High School Teacher) due to suicide. The song is reminiscent of the emotions I went through struggling to make sense of the reality of her loss. The concept of the album was to write ten songs in the vein of the stages of grief starting with Denial, Anger, leading to this song as Bargaining, and continuing on to Depression, and finally Acceptance. Losing someone and not knowing if things could have been different is something I struggle with to this very day. As I continue to teach High School, I have become more self-aware of my students' well-being and am quick to intervene when I see possible signs of depression. It is an experience I have come to terms with, but I will never forget the impact it has made on me.”
